"What are you going to do if someone actually calls and needs you to do something?"

- Initial response of an obviously concerned five-month pregnant spouse during the business planning process taking precedence over an established career in the teaching profession

Roughly five weeks after the birth of his second child, 31-year old Algebra Teacher-Athletic Director and former U.S. Army Sergeant Jeffrey Daughtry's dream of becoming an independent business owner became reality. Well, sort of. Armed with literally a couple hundred bucks remaining from another mismanaged tax return yielded nearly enough to acquire the necessary requirements in obtaining a state license and used investigative equipment.

Insufficient planning and direct managerial inexperience, unpleasant mind-numbing pursuit of a Ph.D., maintaining a professional certified mathematics teaching position...combined with dozens of unanticipated expenses associated with operating a business; bankruptcy appeared to be imminent. Besides, the first few months of "business" or lack thereof resulted in less than $130 which took what felt like an eternity and act of Congress to collect. Fortunately, an uncompromised faith in God combined with the love and support of a VERY patient and understanding spouse generated phenomenal results in an unprecedented amount of time. Word of mouth spoke volumes and provided key referrals inherent to attaining financial success.

POLITICALLY CORRECT VERSION

Jeffrey Daughtry, grandson of the late L.C. Daughtry, a notorious and well-respected retired Norfolk , Virginia Police Detective, learned at an early age the significance of providing a valuable service to the community. T
he initial establishment of Daughtry Investigative Services, LLC® began decades later in October 1998, in Tacoma, Washington; however, as a result of limited resources and related experience, DIS® was not officially founded until May 2006 in the city of McDonough, Georgia.

Unbeknownst to Jeffrey until well beyond the establishment of Daughtry Investigative Services, LLC® prior to his death in February 1976, ironically Detective L.C. Daughtry worked independently in the field of Private Investigation as well.

The sole purpose behind initiating the organization was to serve the needs of a well-deserving public whose cases require individual specialized attention necessary for resolve. Additionally, an ongoing professional interest in human behavior coupled with the desire to serve in an investigative capacity, generated a desire to work independently for the people absent from endless layers of bureaucracy and public criticism synonymous with police work.

Daughtry Investigative Services, LLC®  is an American family owned and operated Private Investigative Agency out of McDonough, Georgia and employs four part-time licensed investigators specifically tailored to meet the needs of the everchanging clientèle.

The official Daughtry Investigative Services, LLC®  logo was designed in January 2007 by graphic artist, Chad McDonald, McDonough, Georgia and copyrighted in September 2007.

In March 2008, Daughtry Investigative Services formed an LLC or limited liability corporation. It is similar to a corporation and is often a more flexible form of ownership, especially suitable for smaller companies with a limited number of owners. Unlike a regular corporation, a limited liability company with one member may be treated as a disregarded entity by the IRS. Some of the advantages since establishing a LLC are much less administrative paperwork and record keeping than a corporation; pass-through taxation; the owners of the LLC, called "members," are protected from some liability for acts and debts of the LLC, but are still responsible for any debts beyond the fiscal capacity of the entity; using default tax classification, profits are taxed personally at the member level; the economic benefits of those interests can be separated and assigned, providing the assignee with the economic benefits of distributions of profits/losses (like a partnership), without transferring the title to the membership interest.

The above printed design replaced the notorious two gumshoes who stood together honorably since the company's initial introduction in the spring of 2006. Despite the fact that these two historical figures are no longer prominently on display; they can still be found investigating the web page periodically.
